We see our teachers every day, but how much do we actually notice they do? The first thing you feel when stepping into Mr. H’s class, besides the blasting AC, is the welcoming environment. On Mr. H’s desk, you can see an extensive collection of fidget toys that students can borrow at any point during class. Mr H says, “I do it because it keeps them occupied; otherwise, they can get distracted”. Mr. H bought all of these fidgets with his own money. Even though students often break these fidgets, Mr. H goes out and buys more for his students to enjoy.

Getting into the actual class, you can easily tell that Mr. H implements Moreau ideologies when it comes to teaching by providing a haven for students to learn and grow. From the 3 classes he teaches, which are Algebra 1A, Honors Geometry, and AP Pre-Calc, he works with his students each step of the way. Mr. H even gets to school at 6 a.m. every day and has his room open to students who need extra help.  Mr. H said, “What I like about teaching these different levels is that I have a wide spectrum of learners. What I appreciate about that is that it allows me to be a better teacher by keeping me on my toes and makes me a lifelong learner”.

Mr. H’s third period class, which is a 1A class, seems to have the same view of Mr.H’s teaching. Renee Torres, class of 2030, says, “He is easy to talk to and answers my questions well. He’s the best teacher ever.” Darlene Maciel-Surita, class of 2030, says, “Mr. H teaches so well that I actually fully get it. He’s the best.”

Even though students see their teachers all the time for their classes, there is so much more teachers do for them. Teachers put time and effort into their students, whether they are on the clock or at home grading papers. They spend money on us so that we can receive the best education possible. Mr. H is an amazing example of this, always striving to make sure his students are the best they can be.
