Moreau Sports Update: Fall Season Comes to a Close
As the fall sports season begins to wrap up, Moreau Catholic’s athletic teams are entering a crucial part of their seasons. With games still being played and playoffs approaching, Mariner athletes are working to finish strong. Football, girls flag football, volleyball, golf, water polo, and tennis have all given students and families teams to follow throughout the season.
Football Looks to Finish Strong
Moreau football is heading into the final stretch of its season, with each remaining game becoming more important. After tough losses to Bishop O’Dowd and James Logan, the Mariners hold a 4-3 record and look to regroup against San Leandro at Al Vermeil Field. The team will then face Hayward and Berkeley to close out the season. The Mariners will need to stay focused and work together as they continue their push toward the playoffs.
“We’re down a lot of starters right now, but our coaches are keeping our mindset positive and reminding us that we can get it done with the people we have. We’ve been more focused, and practices have been more intense. We’re always used to playing with a chip on our shoulder, so it’s just going to be another game for us,” said Chris Wilson.
Girls Flag Football Continues to Grow
Girls flag football has continued to build its place in Moreau athletics. The team has worked hard throughout the season to improve, build chemistry and gain experience.
The Mariners finished fourth in the league with a 10-11 record and will now await their NCS playoff seeding. Their progress reflects the growth of the sport at Moreau and gives players an opportunity to represent the school in a growing athletic program.

“We’re really looking forward to competing and making this final push together. We want to finish the season strong, especially for our seniors, and give them a season they can be proud of,” said Emma Dessu.
Boys Golf Finds Success
Varsity boys golf has put together a strong fall season, earning an impressive 10-2 record. The Mariners have shown consistency and teamwork while competing throughout the season. Their success reflects the hard work and dedication they have put into improving their game. The team will now await its NCS seeding.
Boys Tennis Builds Experience
Boys tennis also competed throughout the fall season, gaining valuable experience against tough opponents. Despite a challenging 3-17 record, the Mariners continued to work on their skills, develop as a team and represent Moreau. The season provided players with opportunities to improve and build experience that can help them moving forward.

Moreau’s boys and girls water polo teams continued to compete against tough opponents throughout the fall season. With records of 1-11 for the boys and 1-10 for the girls, both teams faced challenges while gaining experience in the pool. Their commitment to improving their skills, building teamwork and supporting one another reflects the dedication of Moreau athletes throughout the season.
