It feels like just yesterday when players were suiting up for their first soccer game, and now the 2025-2026 season has officially come to an end.
One of the benefits of the Moreau Catholic soccer program is the camaraderie and community built between the athletes and coaches. Through late-night practices and playing in the rain, lifelong friendships are built. Although neither the boys nor the girls team made it to the NCS playoffs, the teams took this year as a learning experience to grow for next year.
The girls’ varsity soccer team finished with an overall record of 6-11-1, and a league record of 4-9-1 (6th in Mission Valley). Notable moments were their three-game winning streak, beating Irvington, Mission San Jose, and American High School. The win against American was one of the best moments of the team, highlighting the team’s effort and work by beating the former MVAL league champions, 3-1.
On the girls’ senior night, they played their last game of the season with a 100% effort by everyone on the field, narrowly losing to co-MVAL League Champion Newark Memorial with a score of 0-1. The team is sad to see the seniors, Elexa Lopez, Saachi Ratra, and Sadie Cotton, leave.
The boys’ varsity soccer team finished with an overall record of 3-12-3, and a league record of 3-8-3 (6th in Mission Valley). Notable moments were the team’s wins against Mission San Jose, Kennedy, and Irvington High School.
Even though soccer season has come to an end, spring sports are going strong, so make sure to support your Mariner athletes as they compete.
