[French exchange at Moreau Catholic 2025]
Ever dreamed of visiting the Eiffel Tower or experiencing French culture firsthand? Hosting a French student is your chance to bring France into your home and receive priority status for the trip to France in May 2027.
The French Exchange program has been going on for many years at Moreau and is now back after COVID. Every year, Moreau has a dozen or more French students from Nortre-Dame Des Missions visiting Moreau for over a week. While they’re here, they stay with a Moreau family. The family provides them a place to sleep, food to eat, and a look into an American’s day to day life.
Dr. Jacob Schott, Moreau Catholic’s French teacher says, “This program is very meaningful to me because not only does it connect French and American students, but it allows me to work with my students in France, allowing them to be in the culture and experience everything with me.”

Maya Shih, the president of French club, has previously hosted a French student and addresses one of the most popular concerns: “Don’t worry about having to go out of your way to take your exchange student places. For my exchange student, we just did day to day things and they still found it interesting.”

The French Exchange program is a great way to become friends with someone internationally. It’ll give you a new appreciation for your everyday life and where you live.
“My French student and I shared a lot about our different cultures. I learned a lot about how different it was in France. I’m excited to go back to France and visit my exchange student,” Shih says.
If you’re interested, Moreau is taking a group of students to France in May 2027. If you host a French student this fall, you get priority status for the trip, and have an opportunity to be hosted by them in return. You don’t have to do both, but it’ll enrich your experience if you fully participate in the exchange.
If this sounds like something you’d like to do, email Dr. Schott for more information, questions, and concerns. The applications for hosting a French student this October have already been opened, so feel free to shoot him an email if you want to host!
