“PRIMA”: From Reality Show Elimination to Rising Pop Star
Born in Bratislava and first capturing the public’s attention on a reality talent show, Adéla is stepping into the spotlight with her debut album Prima—a bold introduction to a rising pop star poised to make her mark on the music industry.
From the very first day of her participation in The Show: Dream Academy, Adéla Jergová was a front-runner to win. This competition show, co-produced by K-pop company HYBE and the American record label Geffen, ultimately led to the formation of KATSEYE and later was made into the Netflix series “Pop Star Academy”. But then, after Adéla released her own album, she got more Spotify streams than KATSEYE, which is really impressive and somehow proves that it is never the end if you keep on trying.
Instead of leaving this experience behind, she had a deeper understanding of “idols” and the pop industry in “PRIMA”: having witnessed firsthand how a young girl is trained, packaged, and vetted, she realized sooner than many newcomers what it truly means to become a celebrity.
The choice of title for ADÉLA’s debut studio album is quite interesting and tells a story. PRIMA means “first”: first-place dancer, first place, first elimination. A single word represents ADÉLA’s entire origin story: her ambition, the betrayal and setbacks she faced. She said: “You know, the prima ballerina is kind of the best soloist in the company. So, hopefully, one day I’ll get to be a prima ballerina of pop music.”
Long before entering the pop landscape, Adéla was defined by the strict discipline of ballet. She began her training at the age of three and she eventually moved to London to study at the English National Ballet School. Growing up in this intense environment gave her a fierce resilience that helped her through her career.
This album chronicles the entire journey of a young woman pursuing her dream of becoming a pop star, seamlessly shifting between strength and vulnerability, toughness and tenderness, and representing a comprehensive portrait of an artist.
