Finding Hope in the Flames: A Fire Force Review

Fire Force is an action anime/manga series written by Atsushi Ōkubo, with three seasons releasing in parts between July 2019 to December 2025.
“The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled,” says ancient Greek historian and writer Plutarch. This quote is relevant to Fire Force because the show is not just about fighting fires, but to keep hope, determination, and humanity alive during difficult times.
In season 1, we get introduced to Shinrea Kusakabe, who joins Special Fire Force Company 8 in a world where people burst into flames and become creatures called Infernals. Throughout the season, as Shinrea learns how to better control his fire abilities, he and his company investigate the cause of the human combustion.
I overall really enjoyed this season, and I think that they did a very good job with the storytelling. It does a good job at showing the mystery of the Infernals while building towards future conflicts.

Season 2 continues with Shinrea and Company 8 as they fight Infernals and continue uncovering the mystery behind the Adola Burst. They also investigate the Evangelist and the secrets behind human combustion.
The Adola Burst is a rare type of flame that comes from Adolla, an alternate world connected to the flames. The series shows that in that alternate world, you have a double and when you turn into an Infernal, the double comes to the real world.
The Evangelist is a mysterious, powerful being connected to Adolla and the Great Cataclysm. The Great Cataclysm was a disaster that happened 250 years before the main story which consumed most of the world with flames. The Evangelist wants to bring another Great Cataclysm, because they believe it will allow the world to become one with Adolla.

Season 3 continues with company 8 facing new threats connected to the Evangelist and Adolla. Shinra becomes stronger while learning more about the Great Cataclysm and the connection between the real world and Adolla. The season brings more intense battles, new enemies, and important discoveries about the origin of Infernals and the Evangelists plan.
These are some thoughts on the anime from Moreau students.
When asked his opinion on the show, Junior Kai Venuto said, “Amazing show. I really liked the theme of never giving up hope.”
Sophomore, Benjamin Locks “Fire Force is a great anime because it combines exciting action with a deeper story about friendship, sacrifice, and finding your purpose.”
Overall, I enjoyed this show and would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a story with action, emotion, and deeper meanings. The main lesson that the show tells is that true resilience and compassion mean facing life’s deepest tragedies and despair without letting them destroy your hope or humanity.
