What do you hope to do after your 4 years of high school?
At Moreau, a college preparatory school with a 100 percent graduation rate, most seniors plan to continue their education in college. Ultimately, students narrow down their choices and choose which college to attend by decision day on May 1. This year, members of the class of ‘26 have shared their college commitment decisions on a single Instagram account @moreau26decisons to celebrate their college decisions online.

Over 85 seniors have posted on the decisions account, currently planning to attend 43 different schools; the largest number of students plan to attend the University of San Francisco (USF), but what drew some of these students to choose USF.
“I chose USF because of its great location, fantastic nursing program, and class sizes. I’m excited to start my journey as a nurse while exploring an amazing city,” said senior Roy Cardenas.
Standing out among the commitment posts are Gregory Bosl, who has committed to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to study aerospace engineering, and Alina Garcia-Souvanthong, who will continue her education abroad in China at Duke Kunshan University, majoring in computer engineering.
When asked why she decided to study abroad, she noted that it was a lifelong dream of hers. She says, “Studying abroad has always been a dream of mine, so when the opportunity arose, I took it as a sign from God to follow my dreams wherever they may take me, which so happened to be in China, and it being an Ivy League school also is a major plus.” said senior Alina Garcia-Souvanthong
After USF, SJSU was the second most committed school with eight, followed by UC Berkeley, Cal State Fullerton, and Cal State East Bay, each with five students committing.
Here’s a video reflection by Mariner alum Liam Lancalale ’25, who is now attending San Jose State, originally aired on MCTV:
Other popular universities include UC Davis and UC Riverside, with four students each, while UCLA, UC Santa Cruz, University of Illinois, and University of Michigan have three commitments each.
Of course, there are also students who not only continue their education but also continue to play their sport at the collegiate level. This year’s graduating class sees 11 students continue their sports in college.
