The holidays are some of the most eventful times at Moreau. Teachers and students alike set up events and different activities for students to celebrate the season. Winter Week kicks off the month of December, and that’s just the start of many events to celebrate the holiday season. These activities hosted by students and teachers are not only exclusive to Winter Week, however. The festivities continue all month in order to provide comfort, entertainment, and enjoyment to all. This is how Moreau celebrates the Holidays!

The first of many are the dress up days during winter week. Both students and teachers were able to dress up in theme as Christmas characters. A lot of the common costumes seen were Santa Claus, Elves, and the Grinch. Some other fun activities during winter week includes the hallway, and door decorating competition between the faculty and staff. For Hallway decor, first place went to the third floor for their Disney themed hallway. As for the individual door competition, first place went to the front office, for their Nutcracker themed door.

While the winter time means fun at Moreau, it also leads to a lot of stress due to finals coming up. Fortunately, Link Crew hosted their annual Cocoa, Cookies, and Cram. Where students get to enjoy sweet treats, all while studying for upcoming finals. The event took place on December 2 and 4 during both office hours. Multiple students asked about the event said that it went well.
Other student-based events and projects during the winter include multiple charity drives, such as the Nuestre Gente & La Familia Christmas toy drive, which ran fromNovember 20 to December 12, If you donated a new toy worth $10, then you were granted free access to Moreau’s basketball game December 9. Every $15 spent on toys was also worth one service hour.
Outside of school hours, there were many great VAPA performances that students have been preparing and putting in hard work for all semester long. The dance program presented“I made you a Mixed Tape”, based around eighties music, on December 12-13, in Teves Theater. As for the band program, they gave a very talented and outstanding performance on December 4. Their concert, “A Most Wonderful Christmas,” was the inaugural holiday concert in the brand new B-PAC.

To sum it all up, a lot goes on at school during the holidays. With many festivities, drives, concerts, and student based events, it’s pretty hard to not get involved in any of these things. The festivities don’t end here however, they only continue once winter break comes around. With that being said, thank you all for a great first semester of the new Mariner Explorer! Enjoy your Winter breaks.
